Shiitake Mushroom Logs

I’m kind of a mushroom lover too, so in the spring I inoculated a few different types of logs.  In less than 6 months I had my first flush (shown above), and they were delicious!  I am hoping to get many years of mushrooms from these logs.

The process is simple: buy inoculated dowel rods from a viable source online, drill holes into a recently downed or cut log, insert the dowel, and then cover with wax.  Place in a ‘woodsy’ area and then wait for the magic to happen.
